About this Tool

Breastfeeding Timer — Track Nursing Sessions Accurately

The Breastfeeding Timer is a free tool designed for nursing mothers. It records the duration of each feeding session, the side used (left or right), and the time of each session — helping you ensure balanced and healthy nutrition for your baby.

How to Use the Breastfeeding Timer

  1. Select the side (left or right) before starting.
  2. Press Start when the feeding begins — the timer runs automatically.
  3. You can switch sides during the session; each side is timed separately.
  4. When done, press Stop then Save Session to log it.
  5. Check the History tab to view all previous sessions with full details.

Features

  • Independent tracking of both sides — displays time for each breast separately.
  • Daily statistics — total time, session count, and last side used.
  • Complete session history — keep a feeding log with the ability to delete entries.
  • Manual entry — add a forgotten session by specifying the time and duration.
  • Local storage — all data stays on your device and is never shared.

Why Track Breastfeeding Sessions?

Pediatricians recommend monitoring feeding sessions especially in the first weeks to:

  • Ensure the baby receives 8–12 feedings per day in the first months
  • Detect any early decrease in frequency or duration
  • Alternate sides regularly to stimulate milk production and prevent engorgement
  • Provide accurate information to the pediatrician or lactation consultant when needed

Tips for Successful Breastfeeding

  • Always start with the side you finished on during the previous session
  • A typical nursing session lasts 10–20 minutes per side
  • Count wet diapers daily as an indicator of adequate feeding
  • Consult a professional if sessions are too short or too frequent
