English Number to Words — Convert Any Number to Written English

The English Number to Words converter instantly translates any number into its fully written form in English. English has one of the simplest numeral systems, making it straightforward to convert even very large numbers accurately.

English uses a decimal system with regular patterns: ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, millions, and billions. The only irregular forms are the numbers 11–19 (eleven, twelve, thirteen… nineteen) and the tens (twenty, thirty… ninety). Beyond that, the system is completely regular and predictable.

English Number Writing Rules

Numbers 1–12 have unique names. 13–19 end in "-teen". Tens end in "-ty" (twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety). Hundreds: one hundred, two hundred… Thousands: one thousand, two thousand… Millions: one million, two million… Billions: one billion. Numbers between tens and units use a hyphen (twenty-one, forty-five). British English sometimes uses "and" after hundreds (one hundred and fifty).
