Russian Number to Words — Complex Case and Gender System

The Russian Number to Words converter translates any number into its correct written form in Russian (Cyrillic script). Russian has one of the most grammatically complex numeral systems, featuring multiple plural forms, grammatical gender, and case agreement.

The most challenging aspect of Russian numbers is the three-way plural agreement: 1 = тысяча (nominative), 2–4 = тысячи (genitive singular), 5–20 = тысяч (genitive plural). This pattern repeats for millions and billions, and changes based on compound numbers.

Russian Number Writing Rules

Three plural forms based on the last digit: 1 → nominative (тысяча, миллион), 2–4 → genitive singular (тысячи, миллиона), 5–9, 0 → genitive plural (тысяч, миллионов). Exception: 11–19 always take genitive plural. Gender agreement: тысяча is feminine (одна тысяча, две тысячи), миллион is masculine (один миллион). Hundreds: сто, двести, триста, четыреста, пятьсот, шестьсот, семьсот, восемьсот, девятьсот.
