Islamic inheritance law (Ilm al-Farâid) governs the distribution of a deceased person's estate according to the Quran and Sunnah. This step-by-step calculator helps you accurately determine each heir's share while applying the rules of exclusion (Hajb), residual inheritance (Asaba), Awl, and Radd.

The Six Fixed Shares

• Half (1/2): Husband with no children; one daughter with no son; one full sister with no brother
• Quarter (1/4): Husband with children; wife/wives with no children
• Eighth (1/8): Wife/wives with children
• Two-thirds (2/3): Two or more daughters with no son; two or more full sisters with no brother
• Third (1/3): Mother with no children and no group of siblings; two or more maternal half-siblings
• Sixth (1/6): Father with son; mother with children or siblings group; grandmother; one maternal half-sibling

Awl and Radd

• Awl: When fixed shares exceed the estate, each share is reduced proportionally.
• Radd: When fixed shares leave a remainder with no Asaba heir, it is redistributed to fixed-share heirs (excluding the spouse).
