Arabic Number to Words — Convert Any Number to Written Arabic

The Arabic Number to Words converter instantly translates any number into its fully written form in Modern Standard Arabic (Fuṣḥā). Whether you need to write a check, draft a legal contract, or create educational material, this tool gives you the correct Arabic words in seconds.

Arabic has one of the most complex numeral systems of any language. The tool correctly handles masculine/feminine agreement, dual forms (ألفان for 2000), the unique "reversal" rule for numbers 3–10, and compound numbers up to hundreds of billions.

Arabic Numeral Grammar Rules

Arabic numerals follow complex grammatical rules: Numbers 1–2 agree with the noun in gender. Numbers 3–10 take the opposite gender of the noun (a rule unique to Arabic called mukhālafa). Numbers 11–19 have fixed forms. Tens (20, 30…) use the sound masculine plural pattern. Hundreds: مئة (100), مئتان (200), ثلاثمئة (300)… Thousands: ألف (1000), ألفان (2000), ثلاثة آلاف (3000–10000).

Examples

  • 100 = مئة (mi'a)
  • 1,000 = ألف (alf)
  • 2,000 = ألفان (alfān)
  • 3,000 = ثلاثة آلاف (thalāthat ālāf)
  • 1,000,000 = مليون (milyūn)
  • 1,000,000,000 = مليار (milyār)

When Is Written Arabic Used?

Written Arabic numerals are required on bank checks (legally mandatory in Arab countries), official contracts, court decisions, government decrees, commercial invoices, school and university curricula, and religious/jurisprudential texts. Translators also need this when Arabizing foreign documents.
